Company History

Since its inception in 1986, Turbine Technologies primary mission has entailed the design and manufacture of small gas turbine engines.  TTL’s first engine, a proof of concept development, became a commercial product in 1990.  The engine was installed into a fully instrumented test cabinet and offered to engineering colleges and research institutions for educational and testing purposes.

This device, Mini-Lab™, is now in operation at universities around the world.  Installations have been successfully deployed at over 130 client sites- including Princeton University, The Royal Military Academy in Brussels, The University of Liege, Belgium, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, MTSSR of Brunei, Israel Aircraft Industries and Stanford University.  This successful niche continues to grow and TTL now offers numerous other engineering lab products to the university marketplace.  In essence, TTL is presently growing the firm via a dual pronged approach.  To that end, we continue to develop the educational lab marketplace and aggressively pursue new micro gas turbine engine markets.

TTL’s most recent engine development focused on a turboshaft engine capable of delivering 50HP.  The effort was funded as a component of the Army’s Future Combat Systems, specifically for a ducted fan unmanned VTOL aerial vehicle.

The rapid increase in unmanned vehicle utilization presents an exciting and on-going opportunity for the company.
